Abstract

743,018. Lever load handling attachments for tractors. SALOPIAN ENGINEERS, Ltd. May 10, 1954 [May 9, 1953], No. 12979/53. Class 78 (3). A boom 8 is pivoted at 7 to a vertically-movable tube 1 for movement about horizontal and vertical axes x, y, and the end 11 of the boom is adjustably anchored by a chain, rod or cable 9 to the horizontally movable towbar 21, the arrangement being such that movement of the hydraulically actuated draft links 20 luffs the boom so raising and lowering a grab 15 suspended from a boom extension 14 whilst presetting the tow-bar to one side of the tractor provides simultaneous slewing movement. The tube 1 is attached to the draft links 20 by a U-shaped member (not shown) and to fixed pivots 5 by a U-shaped member 4. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the grab is replaced by a platform constrained by a parallelogram linkage to remain substantially horizontal in all positions of the boom.
