Abstract
1,056,306. Crop-sprayers. BODENBEAR BEITUNGSGERATE VEB. Aug. 15, 1964, No. 33419/64. Heading B2F. A crop spraying &c. apparatus comprises a pair of spray booms 5, Fig. 9, adapted to be adjusted in height in their operative horizontal position by a pneumatic or hydraulic piston and cylinder device 8, a supporting frame for said booms including a member 4, links 6 and 7, and a pair of upper support members 9, in suspension cable 10 connecting a lug 12 on each boom to an end 13, Fig. 2, of the respective member 9, and a further suspension cable 11 common to both booms and adapted to slide through lugs 14 in cable casings 16 which in the operative position, Fig. 2, extend to a central stop 15. A cable 17 shorter than the maximum lifting range of the booms is connected between the stop 15 and a fixture 18 so that on actuation of the device 8 the booms are raised until the cable 17 becomes taut, after which the booms are pivoted towards the apparatus and may be coupled together at their ends. A pair of stops, Fig. 7 (not shown), may alternatively be used. In a modification, Figs. 10-12 (not shown) the whole lifting range is available for adjustment of the working height and the booms are collapsed by actuating the device 8 after a tractor driver &c. has pulled a drag line so that the stop 15 is engaged in the jaw of a member pivotally connected to the piston of said device.
