Abstract

1,117,078. Counterbalancing mobile jib cranes. RUSTON-BUCYRUS Ltd. 27 April, 1967 [20 May, 1966], No. 19344/67. Heading B8B. A vehicle mounted crane having a working frame 3 on a bed 2 comprises a pair of levers 10, one either side of the frame 3 and each vertically, pivotally mounted on the frame 3 by a pin 11. A counterweight 5 is releasably, pivotally mounted on the levers 10 by removable connecting pins 26. Each lever 10 is pivotally connected to the piston 13 of an hydraulic cylinder 12 pivoted to a top member 7 of a sub-frame 6 of the frame 3. In its mounted, full-line, position the counterweight is raised and close to the frame 3 where it is held by removable look pins 20. In order to dismount the counterweight 5, the look pins 20 are removed and the cylinders 12 actuated to retract the pistons 13 which lowers the counterweight 5 and removes it from the frame 3 to rest on the bed 2. The pins 26 are then removed to disconnect the counterweight 5 from the levers 10 and the frame 3.
