Abstract

1,063,702. Masted lift trucks. JOHNSON CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT GROUP Ltd. Aug. 5, 1964 [May 7, 1963; June 4, 1964], Nos. 17906/63 and 23133/64. Heading B8H. [Also in Division E1] A lift truck comprises a mast 9 pivotally mounted at 1a on the chassis of the vehicle for tilting from the vertical to an inclined position, as shown, by an hydraulic piston and cylinder 11 and adapted to carry, in the illustrated embodiment, a V-shaped shovel, bucket or skip 22 in such a way that in the vertical position the front wall of the skip is horizontal to act as a skid bucket and in the inclined position the skip becomes a substantially symmetrically arranged open-topped V bucket. The bucket is pivotally about pins 23 on a carriage 14 which in turn is moved by a cable 19 along the mast which is formed of parts 9a, 9b, the upper part 9b being extensible by a cylinder and ram 20, 21. A rope 26, hydraulically connected to the lower part of the mast, provides means for tipping the basket independently of the cylinder and ram 20, 21. In a modification (Figs. 1A to 3A), the skip is free standing.
