Abstract
741,310. Pipe joints. AEROQUIP CORPORATION. Jan. 12, 1953 [March 1, 1952], No. 920/53. Class 99(1). A socket 10 is secured to the end of a hose pipe 14 by forcing a nipple 12 into the bore of the pipe by rotating a ring 20 mounted in or on the socket, the ring having screw-threaded engagement with the nipple, and the socket and nipple being held against rotation. As shown, the ring 20 is mounted in a sleeve 26 brazed on the end 28 of the socket and is rotated by turning a worm screw 36 engaging teeth 34 on the ring. To remove the nipple, the screw 36 is reversed end for end. The socket 10 has an internal screw thread 18 for gripping the hose.
