Abstract

741,064. Gauging forces; feeler gauges. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 13, 1954 [Aug. 14, 1953], No. 22459/53. Class 106(2). A gauge comprises a frame 6 and a plurality of thin strips of resilient material 4, 5 which individually or jointly are adapted to be deflected by the force to be measured, e.g. that of relay spring contacts, the strips 4 or 5 being attached to the frame by a single pivot 7 whose axis is parallel to the direction of the applied force and the frame 6 carrying a scale 1 for measuring the deflection of the strip (or strips) in use. The strips may each carry a dimple 10 on one side and a projection on the other for locating the point of application of the force. The strips may also be used as feeler gauges and a burnisher 9 may be provided.
