Abstract

585,800. Electromagnetic switches. KEINATH, G. May 20, 1943, No. 8060. Convention date, April 24, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXVIII] In a measuring system of the type in which a variable to be measured produces a force which is opposed by a cyclically varying force, indicating or recording apparatus driven synchronously with the variations in the opposing force becoming operative when the latter balances the force produced by the variable, the forces act on a contact-making member and are respectively related to the variable and to the device producing the cyclic variation by different laws, of which one at least is non-linear. Measuring flows of fluids. Diaphragm 211 is acted on differentially by the pressures on opposite sides of an obstruction 217 and also by a periodically varying force due to a solenoid 224 the current in which is varied by a constantly driven potentiometer 232. Contact arm 225 changes over when the force due to 224 overcomes that due to the pressure gauge and the condenser 261 then discharges to mark a record strip 244, the marker 242 of which is driven synchonously with potentiometer. Specification 556,134, [Group XXXVIII] is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a current measuring system, Fig 3 (Cancelled) (not shown), in which a thermocouple energizes a moving coil movement, the restoring spring tension of which is periodically varied and which controls a contact making member. This system is not included in the Specification as accepted.
