Abstract

739,514. Two-part couplings. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MAATSCHAPPIJ VOOR METAALBEWERKING INDUSTRIA. Feb. 5, 1954, No. 3528/54. Class 38 (1). In a plug-and-socket connector comprising a socket 3 and plug 4 having concentric contacts 7, 10 and 18, 20, respectively, the pin 7 of the socket is split to provide segments which enclose a spherical part of an insulating end 9. The pin 7 is cemented in an insulating piece 6 which, with an insulating sleeve 4, supports a terminal block 11 for the slit, resilient contact 10. The metal socket casing 3 is bolted to a ship's deck d, the earth contact between them being improved by a spring blade 25. A screwthreaded extension 3a of the casing receives a metal annulus 17 of the plug to provide for earth continuity, a metal bush 22 in the plug being connected to the earth lead of a cable 14. The contacts 18, 20, 22 are separated by insulation, and a rubber buffer ring 24 is interposed between the plug and socket when they are engaged.
