Abstract

739,457. Supply systems for space discharge apparatus. CONCORDIA ELECTRIC SAFETY LAMP CO., Ltd., and STEADMAN, C. H. March 1, 1954, No. 5910/54. Class 38 (4). A supply circuit for a filamentary electrode discharge lamp 10 comprises three inductance coils 18 ... 20 wound on a common core, not shown, the first and second coils 18, 19 being serially connected between one supply lead 23 and one terminal 13 of one lamp filament 11, the third coil 20 being connected between one terminal 16 of the other lamp filament 12 and the common connection of two capacitors 30, 31 of which capacitor 30 is connected to the junction 21 of coils 18, 19 and the capacitor 31 is connected to terminal 14 of filament 11, and the other lamp filament terminal 15 being connected to the other supply lead 25. The capacitor 30 corrects power factor and is said to provide a high lamp starting voltage in coils 18, 19. Capacitor 31 is partially resonant with coil 20.
