736,365. Wave-guides. TELEFUNKEN GES., [formerly TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE]. March 19, 1953 [March 19, 1952], No. 7691/53. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (c)] High-frequency energy is transmitted along a non-metallic dielectric wave conductor 1 from a source 41 to a receiving end 5<SP>1</SP> having a considerable low frequency or constant difference in potential from the source. The arrangement may be applied to a medium wave transmitting aerial carrying at its upper end a centimetre wave aerial required to be energized from the base of the aerial. The conductor 1 may be fitted with metal end caps 6, 7 to prevent radiation. The conductor may alternatively be hollow and have adjustable tuning plungers fitted in each end, and may be evacuated or filled with a dielectric liquid or gas under pressure. In a modification the coaxial feeders 2, 3 are longitudinally connected, and the inner conductors 4, 5 connected to the end caps to form radiating and receiving loops, and the conductor 1 and end caps are surrounded by a ribbed insulator and ceramic outer caps respectively.
