Abstract

736,225. Feeding headed blanks. WATERBURY FARREL FOUNDRY & MACHINE CO. Oct. 2, 1952 [Oct. 23, 1951], No. 24694/52. Class 78 (1). A blank feeding mechanism includes a frame 10, a hopper 14 mounted thereon, and a vaned wheel 27 rotatably mounted adjacent the hopper for receiving blanks therefrom, said wheel having a rear wall portion which is mounted on a rotatable shaft and also a circular flange 30, the vanes of the wheel lying between said rear wall portion and said flange. As shown, blanks are introduced into hopper 14 through lid 18 and fall down into wheel 27, which wheel rotates to deliver them on to adjustable plates 36 whence they fall down shoot 32, wrongly placed blanks being rejected by counter rotating kicker wheel 43. Alternatively, the blanks may be fed to the apparatus from a rotating drum (not shown) via a shoot, which shoot passes through hole 50 formed in the wheel 27 (which wheel is now stationary), cover 51 being removed, so that the blanks pass direct into shoot 32.
