Abstract

735,550. Typewriters. TORPEDO-WERKE AKT.-GES. FAHRRADER UND SCHREIBMASCHINEN. Aug. 4, 1953 [Aug. 16, 1952], No. 21524/53. Class 100 (4). A front feed device for a typewriter or other office writing machine is carried on a hinged mounting comprising end plates 1 having pivots 3 bearing in a pair of slotted brackets 8 attached to the machine carriage 7 ; the mounting is urged into the inoperative position shown by a spring 23 housed in telescopic tubular holders 20, 21 but may be held in the operative or horizontal position by a latch 12. The latch comprises a pair of hooks 12, one pivoted to each bracket 8 which engage a strip 5 secured to each end plates 1 ; each hook is unlatched by the depression of a button 14 sliding a rod 13 to engage a side-piece 18 of the hooks 12. The mounting may be easily removed from the carriage by turning the plates 1 until the flat portions of the pivots 3 register with the entry slots 10 in the brackets 8, and disconnecting pins 24 carried on the lower tubular holder 21 from slots 25 in the brackets 8. The pins 24 are normally held in the slots 25 by springs 26 attached to the upper holders.
