Abstract

1,184,353. Travelling band gas filter. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO. Inc. 4 April, 1967 [25 April, 1966], No. 15468/67. Heading BIT. A travelling band gas filter of the type in which a glass fibre web is fed from a supply roll (7) to a take-up roll across a peripheral frame 2 defining the gas path comprises hinged support arms 19 whose end slots 26 receive the spindles of the rolls, arms 19 being fitted over brackets 11 and pivoted thereto by pins 28 through apertures 17, 27. Outward protrusions 18 on resilient metal bracket 11 cooperate with apertures 29 in arm 19 to form a detent lock which retains arm 19 normal to frame 2 for use. For storage or transport, arms 19 fold inwards across the frame. The arrangement is used at both ends of roll (7) and at least one end of the take-up roll (Fig. 2, not shown), which is driven by motor (9).
