Dust and dirt on a paper web 1 travelling to a printing machine is subjected to electric discharge by elements 23, prior to being blown from the web into discharge conduits 16, 17 by air jets 9 and 10. The housing accommodating the discharge elements and air jets is made in two parts which are swingable away from the web about pivots 5, 6.
