Abstract

1,115,152. Laundry flatwork feeding device. MANLOVE, ALLIOTT & CO. Ltd. 23 Nov., 1964 [26 Nov., 1963], No. 46708/63. Heading D1A. In a laundry flatwork straightening device, the trailing portion of each sheet or the like is subjected to a stream of air, sufficient to cause the material to become turbulent and in the direction opposite to the direction of travel of the sheet past a plane surface 11. As shown, air under pressure is supplied by one or more fans 14 through a trunk 15 and air box 13 to louvres 12 in the top of a metal plate 11. In operation, the ends of sheets are placed by hand or by a conveyor (not shown) on conveyor 10 and the remainder of the sheet drops across the margin of plate 11 and is shaken out by the air stream from louvres 12. The louvres may be staggered or nozzles or pipes may be provided instead.
