Abstract

1,118,212. Drying webs. BRISTOL FAN CO. Ltd. 7 April, 1966 [12 April, 1965], No. 15435/65. Heading F4G. The effective width of an elongated nozzle 4 through which hot air is ejected on to a web of sheet material to be dried can be adjusted to suit the width of the web by a rotatable sleeve 6 having an aperture formed with two parallel longitudinal sides 8 and two inclined, converging sides, which aperture co-operates with pressure equalizing holes 3 formed in a fixed outer sleeve 2 which leads through the nozzle to the outlet slot 5. Rotation of the sleeve 6 relative to sleeve 2 closes the apertures 3 successively from the ends of the sleeve 2.
