Abstract

912,485. Feeding webs. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. May 19, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 16950/59. Class 100 (1). A device for threading the leading end of a web through a drier or other treating apparatus in which the web 1 is fed in a plurality of horizontal runs while supported and advanced by treating medium blown against the web is characterized by a leader member 6 consisting of a sheet of light material capable of being supported and advanced by impinging jets of treating medium and means connecting the leader with the leading end of the web. The member 6 may be a piece of already dried web or may be two layers of material held together by longitudinal seams. A rope 7 is attached at one end to the rear end of the member 6 and at the other to the web 1 by a clip 8, Fig. 4, closed by a clip 9.
