Abstract

1,014,958. Feeding webs. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. June 11, 1963 [June 21, 1962], No. 23281/63. Heading B6B. The tapered leading edge of a web 1, Fig. 1, is threaded into and through a drier by means of a conveyer comprising an endless chain 4, Figs. 1 and 2, accommodated in a groove 7 in an elongated box 5, extending the length of the conveying plane and having eyelid-shaped openings 6 through which air is blown forwardly parallel to the conveying plane. The aerodynamic effect of the air flow is to draw together the web and conveyer so that the latter draws the web through the drier, the body of the we being supported on a series of blowing boxes 3 having perforated upper surfaces through which air is blown. In another form, Fig. 4, the groove 7 is to the side of the box and the openings 6 are replaced by holes 6<SP>1</SP> in triangular portions 8 pressed out of the upper surface of the box.
