Abstract

Apparatus for coating moving webs of material comprise a stenter machine in combination with a coating trough extending transversely of the stenter, the opening of the trough preferably being adjustable to vary the depth of coating on the web. A collector trough is positioned below the web to receive excess coating material, and adjustable collector troughs (18), Fig. 2 (not shown), are positioned between the coating trough and the web. The adjustable collector troughs are fixed to the clip or needle bars of the stenter and vary the width of coating film applied to the web as the width of the web varies.
