Abstract

<PICT:0735095/III/1> A liquid-dispensing pad, particularly for use as an inking pad for porous rubber stamps but which may also be charged with an antiseptic, germicide, lubricant or other oily liquid, detergent &c., comprises an open-topped receptacle in the bottom of which is a porous natural or artificial rubber pad covered by a liquid-pervious cover stiffer than the pad to distribute local pressure applied thereto, the cover being, e.g., of firm felt, or of felt on a thin rigid perforated screen of metal, vulcanized rubber &c. The pad 29 in the base of the metal container 28 shown may be of natural or synthetic rubber (e.g. for oily liquids a butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer) made micro-porous by adding sodium nitrate to the unvulcanized rubber in proportion by weight of 19 : 1, and leaching out after moulding and vulcanization. If the perforated screen 31 is omitted the felt layer 30 may be thicker, e.g. almost as thick as the pad 29, to give the required stiffness.
