Abstract

734,821. Water-gas plant. POWER-GAS CORPORATION, Ltd. July 26, 1954 [Aug. 7, 1953], No. 21812/53. Class 55 (1). A cyclically operated water gas plant has a waste heat boiler whose inlet chamber contains a steam superheater, steam is withdrawn from the boiler and passed through the superheater and supplied to a continuously running auxiliary such as a blower so that there will always be a flow of steam through the superheater when the plant is in operation. When the plant has a jacket boiler round the generator steam from this boiler may also pass through the superheater or through a second superheater arranged in the inlet to the boiler. As shown, the plant comprises a generator k having a jacket boiler l, a waste-heat boiler b with superheaters d and q in the boiler inlet e, a turbine blower a and a steam accumulator s which receives exhaust steam from the turbine a. In operation steam from boilers band l passes by lines n and p through superheaters d and q respectively and superheated steam is supplied to the turbine a through line c, steam from boiler b passing through a pressure reducing valve m. Exhaust steam from turbine a and .any steam from the boilers band l not passed through the turbine pass by line r into steam accumulator s and provide steam for the run periods of the plant. In modifications not all the steam withdrawn from the boiler b or the boilers b and l passes through a superheater.
