Abstract
762,555. Power-generating systems. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Oct. 29, 1954 [Oct. 31, 1953], No. 31278/54. Class 122 (3). [Also in Group XIII] In the steam turbine plant described in Specification 762,556, the operation of disconnecting the generator 4 from the network is accompanied by reducing the steam supply through a quick-acting valve 24 to the turbines sufficiently to keep them running at their normal speeds. The rest of the steam is conducted to the condenser 9, that from superheater 16 passing through valve 45, water separator 41 and pipe 42, and that from superheater 20 passing through valve 34 to water separator 35, pipes 38, 30 to reheater 31 and pipes 32, 40 to water separator 41 and hence through pipe 42 to condenser 9. The heat output of the first furnace 5 and feed water supply thereto is then reduced to 15 to 40 per cent of the maximum output value. Similar changes are made to the heat output and feed water in the second furnace.
