734,610. Extruding. COMPTOIR INDUSTRIEL D'ETIRAGE ET PROFILAGE DE METAUX. Dec. 16, 1952 [Dec. 20, 1951], No. 31901/52. Class 83 (4). In an extrusion press for hot metals, the working face of the member 3 which presses the billet through the die 8 has rigidly mounted thereon a stud 2 which at the end of the extrusion stroke co-operates with the die opening to sever the discard 7 from the extruded metal. The stud 2 may be integral with a dummy block provided at the end of the ram 5 or the stud may be provided on the end of the ram. A mandrel 7a passes through the ram and dummy block when tubes are extruded. The die may have a number of die-apertures to enable the simultaneous extrusion of a number of extruded products and in this case the member 3 has the same number of studs 2.
