Abstract

734,351. Gas burners. PARNALL (YATE), Ltd. July 24, 1953 [Aug. 15, 1952], No. 20614/52. Class 75 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A gas burner has a central boss 1 from which extend a plurality of perforated burner tubes 5 of corrosion resistant material each of which in plan view is curved with a radius of curvature substantially constant over the major part of the length of the tube and substantially semicircular, and is of elliptical cross-section. The. burner may be manufactured by forming stainless steel strip into a tube of elliptical crosssection, welding the abutting edges, cutting into lengths, and bending to the required curvature. The part 6 of each tube 5 which is to pass into the boss 1 is formed with a circular crosssection and straightened. The tubes 5 are secured to the boss 1 as by brazing, and the assembly is then placed on a machine which perforates the tubes and seals the ends 7. thereof.
