Abstract
733,149. Water gas. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 11, 1952 [July 25, 1951], No. 17630/51. Class 55 (1). In a fluidized water gas process wherein particulate carbonizable carbonaceous material is gasified as a fluidized mass in a make vessel 2 at a temperature of between 900-1050‹ C. and material is continuously circulated between the make vessel and a blow vessel 1 by lines 5 and 6 a preheated gas containing free oxygen is introduced at 7 into the blow vessel to heat the material therein by partial combustion and to maintain it in an entrained condition. The temperature in the make vessel is preferably 910-950‹ C. and water gas leaves the vessel to pass through cyclones 8 and 9, a waste heat boiler 14 and a scrubber 18. Blow gases separated from heated material in space 19 pass through cyclones 10 and 11 and a waste heat boiler 15; dust from the cyclones 8-11 is returned to the make vessel 2 and fresh particulate material is introduced into the make vessel at 3.
