733,008. Mounting motor cycle headlamps. JAMES MOTOR CYCLES, Ltd., [formerly JAMES CYCLE CO., Ltd.]. Feb. 16, 1954 [Feb. 16, 1953], No. 4212/53. Class 75 (3). In a headlamp assembly for motor cycles of the kind wherein the headlamp is disposed in a housing mounted on or adjacent to the upper ends of the front forks of the cycle and carrying instruments such as a speedometer, ammeter, and a control switch, the housing is mounted for controlled pivotal movement about a horizontal axis by means operable by the rider. As illustrated, the housing 10 is formed with lateral extensions attached by bolts 26 to the upper ends of the forks 25, and a limited pivotal movement of the housing 10 about the bolts 26 is effected by rotating the knurled head 37 of a stud 35 threaded into a boss 36 on the upper end of the steering head 33. The rear end of the housing 10 is depressed by turning the stud 35 clockwise and is raised by a spring 38 when the stud 35 is turned counterclockwise. The headlamp assembly is held in its adjusted position by frictional resistance at the pivots 26.
