732,870. Smoothing upper leathers. SEIBERT, W. May 11, 1953 [May 13, 1952], No. 13039/53. Class 17 (1). [Also in Group VIII] Leather uppers and completed shoes are smoothed by a stream of hot air in a working compartment fitted with an observation window and openings for handling, from which compartment hot air is sucked into a blower device for recycling after heating. As shown in Fig. 2, a working compartment 2 has openings 9 for handling and a window 10. A nozzle 5 delivers a stream of air heated by thermostatically controlled heating coils 8 from a blower 4 via pipe 7. Hot air is withdrawn into a funnel 3 and a pipe 11 leading from the top of the compartment for recycling through the blower 4. A moistening device 13 arranged exterior to the chamber, may be operated by a stream of air from the blower branched off from pipe 7 under the action of a spring-loaded hand- or foot-operated valve 14.
