Abstract
895,806. Dry-cleaning machines. BOEHLER, M., and WEBER, F., [trading as BOEHLER & WEBER KOMM.-GES.]. Jan. 27, 1960 [Feb. 6, 1959 ; March 7, 1959], No. 2892/60. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XXIII] Solvent used in dry-cleaning apparatus is recovered by withdrawing air-solvent mixture from the cleaning drum, condensing a substantial amount of the solvent in the withdrawn mixture, and passing the residue through activated carbon in which the remaining solvent is absorbed. The air-solvent mixture is withdrawn from the cleaning drum 1 through a filter 7 by a suction fan 8, and passed to a condenser 12 past a device 25 spraying cooling water. The water-condensate mixture passes through a conduit 13 to a separator 14, and the residual air-solvent mixture passed through a duct 29 to an activated carbon apparatus 17. Part of the residual air-solvent mixture may, if desired, be returned to the drum 1 through a duct 28 by adjusting a flap valve 15. The duct 28 contains a heater 11, and by adjusting flap valves 15, 16 heated fresh air may be admitted to the drum at the end of the cleaning operation for drying the fabrics. The apparatus may comprise two activated carbon units which may be used alternately, as desired. Another embodiment includes a modified condensing system for the solvent.
