Abstract

996,578. Solvent recovery. M. BOHLER, and F. WEBER, [trading as BOHLER & WEBER KOMM-GES]. May 14, 1962 [May 16, 1961], No. 18515/62. Heading D1A. In dry cleaning using a rotating drum 1, solvent is recovered from residual solvent-water mixture in the drum by drawing off vapour by means of fan 7 through a filter 6, condenser 22, and activated carbon adsorber 10, condensed vapour passing to water separator 20 via pipe 21. Residual gas may be discharged through outlet 11 or recycled to drum 1 via heater 13. Drum 1 may be evacuated or air drawn through from inlet 14 via heater 13. After the adsorbent step solvent is expelled from adsorber 10 with steam and condensed in condenser 22. Cooling may be effected by means of heat exchange pipes or spraying with water. In modifications the cooler may be situated below a horizontal bed of adsorbent (Figs. 3 and 5, not shown) or on the lower side of an inclined bed (Fig. 4, not shown).
