Abstract
732,730. Optical projection apparatus. KIRCHHOFF, K. Oct. 15,1952 [Oct. 20,1951], No. 25900/52. Class 97 (1). In a projector for stereoscopic diapositives movable optical members are used to vary the separation of the optical axes in the vicinity of the diapositives and inclined aspherical, preferably toroidal, reflectors are used to reflect light from a source through the diapositives. In the form shown, diapositives are located in apertures 4 in a carrier 3, illuminated by a single lamp 2 and projected by lenses 15, 16. Polarising or anaglyphic filters 30, 31 are mounted in a disc carrier 32 rotatable to a position where, to provide for non-stereoscopic projection, an open aperture is in front of one lens the other being obscured by the disc. Glass blocks 18, 19 can be pivoted about axes 22, 23 by a sliding rod 24 to adjust the separation of the optical axes. Each illuminating system comprises condenser lenses 9, 10 and an aspherical reflector 5 which may be a lens silvered on its curved, aspherical surface. Alternatively the condenser lenses and reflector may be replaced by an inclined meniscus lens silvered on its rear face.
