Abstract

779,471. Stereoscopic optical projection systems. EASTMAN KODAK CO. June 29, 1955 [June 30, 1954], No. 18763/55. Class 97(1) A system for a contour projector comprises means for illuminating an object to be viewed, an image display screen, a telecentric lens system for receiving light from the object and projecting an image thereof on to the screen, said telecentric lens system including a positive first lens for receiving the light from the object, a second lens and an aperture plate with two horizontally spaced apertures as the telecentric stop of the lens system located in the rear focal plane of the first lens and in front of the second lens, and a pair of anaglyph filters respectively over the apertures for distinguishing the two beams passing through the apertures. In the form shown light from the source 10 is collimated by the lens 11 before falling on the object 12 and then passes through a system of two lenses 30, 31, spaced at the sum of their focal lengths, which forms an image at 33 after reflection of the beam at mirrors 32. An objective 34, 35 forms an image on the screen 16 after reflection of the beam at 36. The spaced apertures 42 are formed in front of anaglyph filters 44 in a plate 40 which is inclined and polished so that episcope illumination can be produced on the object by the lamp 50 and condenser 51. The projected image is viewed through anaglyph filters 16. In a simpler embodiment there is no provision for episcopic illumination, the plate 40 being normal to the axis, and the lens 30, in combination with a negative lens beyond the filters 44, projects the screen image directly.
