Abstract

1,029,138. Lens systems: projectors. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. Nov 13,1962 [Nov 13,1961], No. 42929/62. Heading G2J. An overhead projector has a lens system including a right angle prism to change the directions of the optical axis and at least one lens element which is movable for focusing purposes. The prisms is positioned near the aperture stop on the system. In the form shown in Fig. 1 for which optimal data are given the system comprises a fixed position lens 1 on one side of the prism 2 and on the other side a fixed system lens 3 and a movable position lens 4. In another form, Fig. 2, not shown a movable positive lens 11 and a fixed negative lens 12 are provided on one side of the prism 13 and,on the other side,there are two fixed positive lenses 14,15, and an axially movable rear negative lens 16, data are also given for this embodiment. In the overhead projecter described with reference to Fig. 5 not shown, the object to be projected is placed upon a transparent stage 38 and illuminated by light passing through condenser 34 and Fresnel lenses 36, 37. The projection lens system 10 has its fixed elements in a mount 41 attached to a pivoted cave 32, the movable element being in a telescoping tube 42.
