Abstract
The invention comprises 11a -hydroxy-4-androstene - 3,17 - dione and the preparation thereof by bringing 4-androstene-3,17-dione into contact with oxygenating substances produced by a growing fungus of the genus Rhizopus, e.g. Rhizopus arrhizus or Rhizopus nigricans, under aerobic fermentation conditions.
