Abstract

The invention comprises 14a -hydroxy-11-desoxycorticosterone and the preparation thereof by bringing 11-desoxycorticosterone or a 21-ester thereof into contact with an oxygenating substance produced by a growing fungus of the genus Mucor, e.g. Mucor griseo cyanus, under aerobic conditions. Either the culture medium on which the fungus has grown or the viable fungus itself may be utilized. As starting steroid there may be used 11-desoxycorticosterone-21-acetate.
