Abstract

731,980. Valve amplifying circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Feb. 16, 1953 [Feb. 16, 1952], No. 4208/53. Class 40 (6). [Also in Group XL (b)] The load impedance of a video amplifier in a television receiver includes a coupling circuit in the form of a low-pass filter having means for adjusting the components of the filter so as to decrease the pass range at the high-frequency end thereof and simultaneously to change the magnitude of the load impedance so as to increase the gain of the amplifier. As illustrated, output video stage 1 feeds the cathode-ray tube over condenser 2 and includes a half-section, m-derived filter the shunt and series arms of which have tappings connected through double-pole switch 17. With the switch closed so that only part of each of inductances 13 and 16 is in circuit, the video pass-band extends up to 5 Mc./sec., and when the switch is open the range is reduced to 2.5 Mc./sec. The gain of the amplifier is approximately doubled when the pass-band is reduced. When the switch is closed the damping provided by the coupling to the shortcircuited portions of the inductances may be employed wholly or in part in place of damping resistors 11 and 15.
