Abstract
484,404. Valve circuits for wireless reception. PERCIVAL, W. S. Nov. 2, 1936, No. 29756. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver for television and sound employing a single oscillator and a common amplifier for the two intermediate frequency channels, the low-pass amplifier is provided with a band-pass output for the vision signals which are fed directly to a rectifier which constitutes the whole or a substantial part of the matching termination for the bandpass output. The intermediate frequency amplifier V3 ... V6 couplings are designed in conjunction with the valve capacities as described in Specification 475,490. A cut-off at the lower end of the intermediate frequency spectrum is effected by the condenser 16 and leak resistance 17 and by the use of small condensers 19 to give de-generation of the frequencies below the intermediate frequency spectrum. The output from the valve V6 is applied through the series tuned circuit 29, 30 to a shunt circuit formed by inductance 31 and the input capacity of the rectifier. The load impedance 32 is low and with the rectifier forms the terminating impedance of the coupling network. Sound signals are suppressed by degeneration produced by the circuit 22, 23 and this circuit may be utilized to feed these signals to a separate amplifier. If the cut-off at the lower end of the intermediate frequency spectrum reduces the amplification of a portion of the signal frequencies means may be provided to compensate this loss.
