Abstract

730,835. Piles. NELSON, G. W. May 26, 1954 [June 4, 1953; July 17, 1953], Nos. 15409/53 and 19861/53. Class 68(2). Each edge of a sheet pile is formed with an inner arcuate part 2 merging into a straight pair 3 and outer arcuate part 4 leaving a space 5 between the engaged edges of complementary sheets which is subsequently filled by a locking member 6. On withdrawing the locking member separate piles may be withdrawn lengthwise or transversely. The locking member may be a bar or rod, as shown, or it may be a pipe ; in the latter case a jetting nozzle may be provided at the lower end of the pipe to supply fluid for removing detritus or for supplying grouting or sealing material.
