Abstract

729,827. Valve amplifying circuits. BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH, Ltd. Aug. 6, 1953 [Aug; 27, 1952], No. 21561/52. Class 40 (6). A multi-stage feedback amplifier is provided with two negative feedback loops, the final amplifier stages being included in both loops: the circuit parameters are so chosen that the loop gain of the outer feedback loop is substantially unity in the region of the cut-off frequency of the inner loop. The Specification gives a mathematical demonstration, showing that an amplifier designed in this manner can provide a greater bandwidth for a given degree of stability and feedback on the final stages, as compared with a single-loop amplifier; alternatively, a greater amount of feedback is permissible. The extension to amplifiers with three or more loops is also envisaged.
