Abstract

729,744. Rubber compression springs. THIEMANN, R. Jan. 21, 1952, No. 1620/52. Class 108 (3). In a shock-absorber comprising a hollow rubber body 10 having a hollow space 12 so shaped that under axial load the central part of the body 10 expands, the body 10 is surrounded by a sleeve 13 which opposes alteration in 'shape of the central part of the body 10. The sleeve 13 may be in the form of a coil spring (Fig. 2, not shown). In Fig. 3 the operation of the spring element 10 is damped by the flow of liquid 16 between the element 10 and the sides of the sleeve 13. A single-acting piston or throttle valve 18 is provided.
