Abstract

925,877. Hydraulic dampers. G. D. PETERS & CO. Ltd. Oct. 20, 1960 [Nov. 10, 1959], No. 38077/59. Class 108(3). In an hydraulic shock absorber a double acting piston arrangement comprises a pair of piston parts 8, 8a, Fig. 1, having limited movement on the piston rod 2 and constituting selfacting valve means to control the flow of fluid past the piston arrangement when the parts enter reduced diameter portions 5 of the cylinder 1. The piston parts 8, 8a have longitudinal through passages 10 which are closed by the engagement of the parts 8, 8a against resilient rings 11 in a backing member 7 which is rigidly attached to the piston rod 2. Flow between opposite ends of the cylinder is controlled by restriction passages 12 having adjustment plugs 16.
