Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a shock absorber with damping characteristic depending on the load by arranging two damper valves with different setting pressures in series in a piston, on the midway of which a passage is provided to be opened only when the load is small. CONSTITUTION:In the inner cylinder 2 of a shock absorber, a piston 4 is provided to divide this inner cylinder 2 into the upper chamber 6 and lower chamber 7. At the time of small load, fouid in the upper chamber 6 flows into the lower chamber 7 through a passage 11, a damper valve 12, and a by-pass 17 in a sleev 14. The fluid in the lower chamber flows into the upper chamber 6, when the piston is sunk, through a passage 8 and a damper valve 10. The by-pass 17 is open, when the load is large, as the sleeve 14 is in contact with the undersurface of piston 4 by the action of a spring 15, so that the fluid from the upper chamber 6 flows to the lower chamber 7 through a damper valve 22 set with a high pressure and, on the other hand, the fluid form the lower chamber 7 flows into the upper chamber 6 through an orifice 25.
