Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve driving comfort by providing a valve mechanism which is activated when the piston of the hydraulic (oil) shock absorber which also serves as a level-control element is shifted in excess of a predetermined distance, and increasing shock absorbing ability whenever excess elongation or contraction occurs. CONSTITUTION:When car load is increased, a cylinder 13 moves to A-direction, bringing the car to a lower level. Then compressed air is supplied through a hole 16 into the room 15, bringing the cylinder 13 back to B-direction, and thus restoring original car level. For such a level-control element, a valve mechanism consisting of a valve plate 35 and springs 36, 40 is installed at inside a nut 22 which connects body 21 of a piston 4 to a piston rod 7. This valve mechanism increases shock absorbing ability by controlling oil flow from room 5 through a path to room 6 when the piston 4 is positioned at one end of an inner cylinder 2 with a displacement towards room 6 exceeding predetermined distance.
