Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to adjust damping force characteristics of a hydraulic damper from outside thereof simply and surely by operating a flow adjusting valve, interposed in bypass oil passage, from outside without dismantling hydraulic damper or taking out parts thereof. CONSTITUTION:In case first and second bypass oil passages b1, b2 are closed with valve bodies 28, 34 by tightening respective adjusting elements 29, 35 for first and second vabiable frow adjusting valves V1, V2, and a piston 5 is risen due to an elongation of a hydraulic damper 1, a pressure in an upper oil chamber 6 is increased and an oil port 16 is closed by an orifice plate 12. Then, pressurized oil is through an orifice 11 and an oil port 15 into a lower oil chamber 7 after pushing down a non-return valve 14 against a strong set load of a spring 13. Thereby, high elongation damping force may be obtained. In this case, if a force lower than a damping force characteristics is desired to obtain, the flow adjusting valve V1 is opened and the oil passage b1 is put into communicating condition. Also, if a low damping force characteristics are desired upon contracting, the flow adjusting valve V2 is opened.
