Abstract

729,385. Mixing appliances; centrifugal machines. STAMICARBON N.V., [formerly MAATSCHAPPIJ VOOR KOLENBEWERKING STAMICARBON N.V.]. June 18, 1953 [June 19, 1952], No. 16882/53. Class 23. In apparatus for mixing a pulverulent solid material with liquid, the liquid is forced through a tangential feed passage 5 into a radially symmetrical chamber 1 wherein it forms a rotating liquid body from which rotating liquid, flowing through a tube 8, continuously enters a container 7 having a conical base and returns to the chamber 1, the solid material being sprinkled on to the liquid rotating in the container 7 so that it is drawn into the chamber 1 and mixed with the liquid therein, and is subsequently discharged with the liquid through a lower discharge aperture 4. The aperture 4 is in communication with a closed vessel 10 having a discharge conduit 11 in which is provided a control cock 12, the control cock 12 being operable to control the pressure in the vessel 10, and consequently, the level of the rotating liquid in the container 7. The pressure in the vessel 10 may be read from a riser 13.
