Abstract

1363025 Centrifugal strainer for sugar BRAUNSCHWEIGISCHE MASCHINENBAUANSTALT 24 Aug 1972 [18 Feb 1972] 39484/72 Heading B1D Massecuite is delivered to the basket 20 of a centrifugal strainer by an inlet tube 4 whose lower end 14 opens into a rotating distribution cup 12 having upright projections 13 which help to accelerate and spread the massaecuite about the circumference of the cup. The massecuite falls from valve 1 as a stream 2 spaced from the wall of tube 4. Ring 5 delivers jets of water, and jacket 10, 11 and apertures 9 in tube 4 deliver steam on to the falling massecuite. these fluids mixing therewith in cup 12. The mixture passes from cup 12 to basket 20 via accelerator sleeve 16, and tube 4 may carry a disc close to the top of sleeve 16 to minimise the amount of air drawn into the sleeve as it rotates. Tube 4 may be axially adjustable.
