Abstract

Liquid is inected tangentially through one or more ports into the upper cylindrical portion of a vertical vat with a funnel shaped lower section so that a continuous vortex is formed into the central drain pipe. The powder is fed from above via a central feed hopper below which is a deflector, either a fixed cone, a pulsed rotating plate, or a cone followed by a corona discharge assembly so that it impinges radially on to the liquid vortex. The deflector is no higher than the liquid ports and is projected from splashes by a skirt. Esp. for fertilizer prodn. no major rotating parts but free from blockage.
