Abstract
1,094,675. Centrifugal strainer. SOCIETE FIVES LILLE-CAIL. May 13, 1966 [May 18, 1965], No. 21369/66. Heading B1D. A centrifugal strainer comprises a conical drum 1, 19 rotating about a vertical axis into which viscous massecuite is delivered by annular nozzle 13, a guide tube 8 extending through nozzle 13 to the bottom of the drum and means 10, 11, 12 delivering solvent to run down the outside of tube 8 to assist the flow. The solvent and diluted massecuite pass into a bowl 14, up and through its coarse perforated wall 15 for uniform distribution over sieve 19 which lines drum 1. Hot solvent vapour is simultaneously delivered down tube 9, inside tube 8 and passes through outlet 17 between bowl 14 and the bottom 16 of the drum and through the massecuite leaving wall 15 where it condenses.
