Abstract
729,052. Fireplaces. BROOMSIDE FOUNDRY CO. (1922), Ltd. Aug. 20, 1953 [Aug. 8, 1952], No. 19995/52. Class 126. In a back-boiler fireplace the side and back walls are formed from interfitting refractory bricks and define a front flue and fireplace whilst a back boiler flue is prefabricated from metal and positioned behind the back wall the boiler being mounted between the flues. In the embodiments shown the front flue and fireplace are bounded by nine interfitting refractory bricks a', a<SP>2</SP>, a<SP>3</SP>, b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, b<SP>3</SP>, c<SP>1</SP>, c<SP>2</SP>, c<SP>3</SP> whilst the back flue, which rests on a seating 14 provided with legs 13, is formed (Fig. 4) by a metal plate 12 covering a metal channel member 11 the area of outlet at the the top being adjusted by a damper plate 17. The boiler 15 is mounted below the brick. b<SP>2</SP> a duct 23 leading from the fireplace to the back flue being provided. In Fig. 2 the parts 11, 12, 13, 14 are shown combined as one unit. The need for the heat insulant filling 16 between bricks a<SP>2</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, and the back flue may be obviated by suitably, cutting and bevelling the back bricks.
