841,516. Fireplaces. ASHBY (ENGINEERS) Ltd., S. G. July 23, 1956 [April 21, 1955], No. 11481/55. Class 126. A firebrick unit of refractory material or cast iron for use in a solid fuel domestic fireplace, with or without a back boiler, to control the admission and direction of air for the combustion of fuel, has a through passage 3 provided between legs 1 and one or more further passages 5 at the front of the unit connected therewith. The front of the unit is recessed at 7 to provide a surface which slopes downwardly and inwardly towards the passage and grooves 6 may be provided at the front of the unit which lead to the entrance of passages 5.
