Abstract

727,987. Magnetron oscillators. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO., Ltd. Dec. 23, 1952 [March 19, 1952], No. 7125/52. Class 39 (1). A multi-cavity magnetron comprises a slotted electrode 2 between the central thermionic cathode 1 and the anode block 3; the electrode 2 constitutes with the cathode 1 a magnetron diode injecting electrons radially as a flat sheet, through the slot 2a in the electrode 2 into the main interaction space. The emissive area of the cathode 1 is confined to a band la opposite the slot 2a. By modulating the voltage between electrodes 1 and 2, amplitude modulation of the output oscillations may be obtained.
